Day 2 of the Mauna Loa eruption was nothing short of breathtaking. Captured during the early morning hours from the Saddle Road on the Big Island of Hawaii, this timelapse showcases the raw power of the world’s largest active volcano. For the first time in 38 years, Mauna Loa has erupted, and I was fortunate enough to witness it up close.
The last time Mauna Loa erupted, I was a junior in high school—back in 1984. The experience of seeing this incredible natural phenomenon again brought back unforgettable memories and awe at the immense force of nature.
For those of you looking for even more immersive footage, I’ve shared some live video clips from the timelapse filming on my Instagram. Head over there and follow along to stay updated with my latest captures!
Enjoy the visual journey, and stay tuned for more!
